In the United States alone, 30 states tax feminine hygiene products because they are labeled as “nonessential” goods.
Nationally, 25 million women live in poverty; more specifically largest demographics living in poverty in the Coachella Valley are females between the ages of 45-54, followed by females between the ages 34-44. Since females are most affected by poverty, this leaves them to decide what to spend their money on.
